Dubai Metro has an ‘excellent’ score
The Dubai Metro has a fault rate of only one fault every four million kilometres, announced Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). He said that one fault is registered in one Metro car every 800,000 kilometers. Such a rate is considered as excellent when measured by the standards of modern trains’ faults worldwide.
More people booking Dubai taxis over the phone
The number of cabs being booked over phone has increased by close to 16 per cent in 2011, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said. In 2011, the number of cabs booked by cab users through the Booking and Despatch Center at RTA's Public Transport Agency increased to 5,080,903 bookings, up by 16 per cent, as compared to 4,393,826 bookings in 2010.
RTA briefs Dubai Chamber delegation on customer service programmes
A delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the Customer Service Department, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to get acquainted with the systems and programmes adopted by the Department in customer relations, especially as regards suggestions made by internal or external customers along with the mechanism adopted to motivate them to make feasible suggestions in the context of sharing experiences capable of improving the overall business conduct.
RTA issues Drivers Performance Certificates
The Drivers Licensing Dep't, Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently launched a new service for drivers enabling them to obtain a Driver's Performance Certificate; an official document comprising a detailed report of all traffic offences committed during the last two years.
Dh26.3 million bonus to cab plate holders
In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has ordered the payment of a bonus amounting to Dh26.388 million to Emiratis whose cab number plates are operated by the Dubai Taxi Corporation and Taxi Franchise Companies at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA); the total number of which is 6,597.
RTA launches e-package
“The number of hits received by the RTA website (www.rta.ae) has jumped from 926,000 hits in 2009 to 5.336 million hits in 2011. The number of text messages leapfrogged from 25 million in 2009 to 34.164 million messages in 2011.The number of RTA online service users soared from 12,677 users in 2006 to about 137,000 users in 2011, and the number of companies registered in the website grew to about 12,000 companies in 2011 compared to about 3,000 companies in 2006.”
Dubai Metro set to break even in 2017
Dubai Metro is on the fast track to financial viability and is expected to break even in five years, while the bus system operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is expected to recover costs in 2016. This follows a massive rise in passenger numbers and savings in the operations of the mass transit system. The public transport system has cut Dh1.5 billion in costs, according to the RTA.
Dh617m First Interchange complete in Dubai
Work on the Dh617 million First Interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road is now fully complete and it has recently been opened to traffic, Gulf News has learnt. The interchange has the capacity to handle more than 16,000 vehicles an hour. Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officials have confirmed that the project has been completed and that motorists will now enjoy a free flow of traffic in the area.
