RTA Customers Council reviews upgrading taxi sector
The Customers Council, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently held its 11th gathering to discuss passenger transport on public taxis with the aim of gathering broader suggestions towards upgrading this vital sector in the Emirate of Dubai. The gathering was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member, CEO and Customer Council Chairperson, as well as Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Customer Services; Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Director of Franchise and Enforcement, Public Transport Agency and Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic Dep’t, Traffic & Roads Agency.
Grace period for vehicles registration till Jan 2011
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has directed to extend the grace period set for RTA to start writing-off vehicles whose registration had lapsed more than two years ago up to January 2011 instead of October this year, in order to allow motorists extra time to have their vehicles tested and registered in accordance with the system in place in the Emirate.
RTA shares internal audit practices
Abdullah Al Jawi, Director of Internal Audit, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), stated that internal audit was no longer viewed as an inspection and monitoring tool as was the case before, but rather a transparent and smooth process that contributes to improvement and enhancement of performance and business procedures.

The Traffic & Roads Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently carried out a successful experiment of using advanced technologies to remove traffic markings and traces of paints spilled on Dubai roads using a Water Jet machine instead of the conventional Sand Blasting method.
