Of the five new bus routes announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), relief is palpable in the average commuter at the bus station most for route No. 84 — from Al Khail Gate to Mina Siyahi.

From trains and buses to waterbuses and taxis, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) monitors every movement of public transport through its ‘tech eye’ or Automated Vehicle Management (AVM) system. Introduced a couple of years ago, the satellite supported system initially supported only Dubai Metro trains, but is now used to cover more modes of transports including buses, waterbuses and taxis.

Dubai’s RTA will adopt a new electronic system in the second quarter of this year for recording driving test results to reduce human errors, the Al Roeya newspaper has reported. This could reduce complaints of bias by driving licence applicants, said Ahmed Bahrouzyan, Chief Executive Officer, RTA Licensing Agency.
