News that Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will reduce the time taken to get on and off the Metro at some stations has sparked a debate on whether there should be specific rules for entry and exit. Currently the average time a train stops at a station is 30 seconds and during rush hour, often, getting on an off is short of a stampede.
RTA launches four express trains in Dubai
Four express trains will serve on Dubai Metro's Red Line from October, cutting the total travel time by 10 minutes. The service, which is being introduced on trial for five month, will be available in the early morning peak hours.

RTA delivers educative lecture about domestic risks
The Commercial Transport Activities Dep't at the Licensing Agency, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in cooperation with Dubai Civil Defence, held a lecture entitled, "The Risks of Gas and Electric Shock." Marine transport users expected to rise to 14m
The number of passengers using water transport in Dubai, which include abras, Dubai Ferry, water taxi and water bus, is expected to hit 14 million by the year end, said Essa Al Dossari, Executive Director of the Public Transport Agency, an affiliate to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Various means of marine transport have lifted as many as 6.9 million passengers over the first half of this year, said Al Dossari.
Dubai Sports Council launches map of sporting venues
The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has launched a map of sporting venues in the emirate aimed at promoting an year-round fitness culture among residents and highlighting options they can make use of to stay active during the summer. The first of its kind in the UAE, the Sports Destinations Map lists around 100 venues with GPS coordinates, contact information and Dubai Metro connections to cater to a wide range of physical activity interests from jogging to cycling and diving.
