RTA launches two traffic quizzes
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has kick-started its awareness plan for 2011 through launching two traffic awareness quizzes; the first targets about 12,282 college students and the second targets the students of all public & private schools in Dubai.
30% of RTA projects to be tendered as PPPs
In the longer term, he confirmed that both the Sheikh Rashid bridge and the Dubai Smile - which will replace the existing floating bridge – would also be tendered as PPPs after 2014, not to mention the operation of the Dubai Metro Green Line and potentially the construction of other lines. "We have a plan to tender the operation and maintenance package of the whole metro system as a ppp in the future. It is also part of the long term plan to tender the construction of the other lines as PPP contracts."
Emiratis to get training on Metro operation
The RTA, in coordination with Serco, a UK-based company which operates the Dubai Metro, has started what they call the ‘Knowledge Transfer Programme' for UAE nationals working with the RTA's Rail Agency. The programme was officially launched recently by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA.

Dubai Metro operator on track for global revenues by 2012
Arabian Business reported that Serco, the UK based operator of the Dubai Metro expected revenues to increase to about USD 8 billion by the end of 2012 on the back of strong global demand for its services. Serco said that operating profit margins are forecast to rise to 6.3% by the end of 2012. The strong performance has been driven by high levels of operational delivery, continued organic growth and good free cash flow. Our financial position remains strong.

Serco, the UK-based operator of the Dubai Metro, said it expected revenues to increase to about $8bn by the end of 2012, on the back of strong global demand for its services. Operating profit margins are forecast to rise to 6.3 percent by the end of 2012, the company said in a statement.
Dubai Metro achieves 96% punctuality in H1 2010
Serco, who manage and operate the network on behalf of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), added that it estimates that 40m passengers will use the service this year. Currently, around 120,000 passengers use the network, which opened in September last year.
