Staff deployed at new Metro stations

Tests have been conducted and staff deployed at the five new Metro stations set to open in mid-October, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official said. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA said: "Five more stations are ready to receive passengers by middle of October."

According to The National daily, the RTA said at a press conference that The Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Nakheel stations will open in mid-October. As a result, just three of the 29 stops on the line remain to be completed, the daily added.

Five stations on the Metro’s Red Line are expected to open next month, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said, leaving just three of the 29 stops on the line to be completed. The Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Nakheel stations will open in mid-October, the RTA said at a press conference. The agency said last month that some stops would not open before the end of this year because of a lack of development around them.

The stations that are not yet open are Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Nakheel, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Energy Station, Jebel Ali Industrial and Jebel Ali. Only Sharaf DG and Jumeirah Lakes Towers are near residential areas.
