RTA introduces smart device to enhance customers service experience
Commenting on the new device, Ahmed Mahboob, Director of Customers Service at RTA said, “The self-service kiosks are smart devices that enable customers to process various transactions themselves, thus obviating the need to visit the service centers, and accordingly save their time and effort.”
Dubai Metro stops due to technical glitch
Dubai Metro stopped for 10 minutes on Tuesday, February 14, evening at around 7.30pm due to technical glitch. The trains stopped functioning between Union Station to Jebel Ali affecting the busy evening traffic. Commuters returning home after work had a tough time as entry gates were closed due to overcrowded stations.
Dubai Metro hits the 100 million mark
One hundred million commuters have used the Dubai Metro’s red and green lines since the service was launched in September 2009 till November 7, 2011, according to Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Metro Sept riders more than UAE population
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai on Wednesday announced that nearly 5.9 million people travelled on Dubai Metro during September. A press statement issued today said that the Green Line – which opened for public on Sept.10, clocked 1.277 million passengers in just 20 days whereas the number of riders on the Red Line during September (30 days) hit 4,661,469 passengers.
Mohammed to inaugurate Dubai Metro Green Line on 9/9/2011
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will launch on September 9, 2011, the official operation of the Dubai Metro Green Line; which stretches 23 km and comprises 18 stations in addition to the two transfer stations; Union and Khalid bin Al Waleed Stations shared with the Red Line.
