The Dubai Lamp was launched at the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2016 show.

Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality and Paolo Cervini, president of Philips Lighting Middle East and Turkey, unveiled the product.

The Dubai Lamp range, jointly worked on by both entities, aims to develop the world’s first commercially available 200-lumen-per-Watt LED lamp in various shapes and colours.

The collection consists of eight lamp variants.

Households and enterprises can reduce energy used for lighting by up to 90% by replacing traditional lights with the Dubai Lamp.

Dubai Lamp has an average lifespan that is up to 15 times longer than that of conventional lamps, and four variants of the product in cool daylight and warm white colours will be available in the emirate by the end of 2016.

Philips and Dubai Municipality are manufacturing two million Dubai Lamps for residential and commercial use across the emirate in 2017, with supply expected to reach 10 million units by 2021. More info
