The testing of spacecraft that will be used for the UAE mission to Mars will be carried out in Dubai, said Sarah Amiri, Deputy Project Manager & Science Lead, ‘Have HOPE – Mission to Mars’ at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre.
The location of the actual launch has not yet been determined but will not be in the UAE, was revealed earlier.
The UAE is currently preparing for its first unmanned mission to Mars – Have HOPE – to be carried out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country in 2021.
In order to land on Mars on this occasion, the spacecraft will have to take off in July, 2020, said Amiri while pointing out the tight timeline the team was given to accomplish the mission.
