Dubai: The Union Square Station in Deira is one of two transfer stations where the Red and Green lines of the Dubai Metro meet.
The station is located in a strategic place as it provides access to various government departments, taxis and bus stands, medical health centres, restaurants and shopping areas.
Visitors and employees of government departments can use this station for easy access to offices without going through the nightmare of parking cars in this congested part of the Central Business District (CBD) on the Deira side of the Dubai Creek. This station will be ideal for people wanting to go for medical tests for their employment visas as the Dubai Municipality’s Health Centre is just three minutes walk away.
Thousands of employees of the Dubai Municipality Headquarters will also be able to benefit from the Metro.
Etisalat’s main office in Dubai and other government offices including the Dubai Economic Department, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dubai Lands Department are also located within 10 minutes walk from Union Square.
The station is located under Union Square Park, which will also be redeveloped once the Metro starts operation on September 9.
People living in Sharjah can have easy access to the station as it is linked with public buses travelling between Dubai and Sharjah. Sharjah and Ajman residents can take the bus and arrive at the station to use the Dubai Metro.
A number of restaurants offering Asian, Arabic and fast foods are also located in the vicinity.
Commuters can get bus links to various destinations within Dubai and even inter-city locations as a major bus stand is also located nearby.
Shoppers can enjoy roadside shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities while one of the oldest indoor shopping centres, Al Ghurair Centre, is located at a distance of just five minutes walk.
