His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime MInister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, on Friday affirmed that the completion of the Green Line of Dubai Metro on the time he set was one of the tremendous challenges amidst the international financial crisis.
Sheikh Mohammed assured a group of reporters during the inauguration of the Green Line that “our State is well and its people are also well and wait for developmental and economic surprises in the UAE”.
“It was not possible to delay this project because if that happened we would have faced a crisis and confusion in executing the scheduled plan up to 2015… Therefore, I decided to go ahead and achieve the project so as to have time for future projects,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
Sheikh Mohammed spoke about challenges the fathers and forefathers faced during the time of diving for living. If it had not for that challenge our fathers faced, we would not have achieved what we have today. We have learnt to confront challenges which we are up to and if it had not for crisis, we would not have made success.
The Vice-President said: “Many people faced huge challenges due to the international financial crisis and as many disappeared, dwindled or stood idled, we in the UAE have weathered the storm with more patience and civilised achievements which the world recognises of our competence to address and face challenges and crises where from their womb born achievements and successes.”
Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that no projects in the health, educational and housing sectors would be delayed as they touch the life, stability and happiness of citizens.
“As leaders we didn’t accept that as the citizen comes first,” he added
