The launch of KhalifaSat, the first satellite fully built in the UAE by a team of Emirati engineers, will be streamed live by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC).

The MBRSC revealed details for the live broadcast from the Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan on October 29 at 8.08am Dubai time.

The event will be broadcast live on Dubai TV, and streamed live on many channels, including YouTube. The MBRSC website currently shows a countdown clock to the launch.

KhalifaSat is an Earth observation satellite, designed, tested and manufactured by a team of Emirati engineers and scientists, at the Space Technology Laboratories, MBRSC.The launch of KhalifaSat will raise to nine the number of multi-purpose satellites so far placed into orbit by the UAE.

The UAE has plans to launch 12 satellites by 2020, a significant milestone in the UAE’s quest to make the space industry one of the most dynamic and vital economic and investment sectors, with current estimated investment of AED22 billion. More
