Yemen minister unveils $1.29bn rail plan

Yemen’s government has announced plans to build the country’s first railway line at a cost of $1.29bn.

According to Saudi broadcaster Al-Arabiya, the government has announced plans for a 2,155km line after conducting a number of studies examining potential routes.

Saleh Abdullah al-Wali, head of Yemen’s General Association for Land Transportation, said that the proposed railway will link Yemen to both Saudi Arabia and Oman. More info
